Efter en decennielång karriär som professionell modell leker Matilde Søes Rasmussen med att släppa kontrollen, genom att överlämna ett intimt konstnärligt arbete till tre separata etablerade konstnärer: 25 timmar av videomaterial där hon över tre år dokumenterat sin modellkarriär i kinesiska megastäder.

För verket Unprofessional anlitade Søes Rasmussen tre filmskapare som alla fick skapa en egen film från hennes videomaterial, och därmed färdigställa verket åt henne; dokumentärfilmsregissören Eva Marie Rødbro, konstnären och musikern Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl och modefotografen Fingle Lee.

Matilde Søes Rasmussen styr processen samtidigt som hon släpper kontrollen över resultatet. Hon leker med idéer om ägandeskap, både över sin kropp och sin konst, och ifrågasätter maktstrukturer i konst- och modevärlden. Vem ser på vem?

After a decade-long career working as a professional model, Matilde Søes Rasmussen is playing with giving up control by handing over an intimate body of work to three separate professionals: 25 hours of raw footage filmed by herself during a three-year period documenting her modelling career in Chinese megacities.

In Unprofessional, Søes Rasmussen hired three filmmakers to each create their own film from the material, and thereby complete the artwork for her; documentary film director Eva Marie Rødbro, artist and musician Kim Richard Adler Mejdahl and fashion photographer Fingle Lee.

While simultaneously dictating the process and giving away the control over the result, Matilde Søes Rasmussen plays with ideas of ownership of both her own body and artwork, while questioning power structures within art and fashion. Who is looking at whom?
